So guys! I’m really excited to share my experience at Turaka Lagos 😩😂
Before I continue, Túraká is a rooftop restaurant and bar which offers an amazing view of Lagos Island, local and international dishes as well as signature cocktails and mocktails for events like happy hour drinks at sunset, impromptu hangout with friends and birthday dinners which was the reason my friends and I were there in the first place.
It’s one of the many amazing spots The Ebonylife Place features.
So like I said earlier, I was there for a birthday dinner but I was going through the motions because the devil didn’t want us to have a nice time but y’all better believe we cursed the devil out😂 and you know I’m gonna be here with a review.
However, if you want the full on visual experience, check out my story or OUTSIDE highlights on Instagram at A.m_Salma.
Anyways back to the story, oops, sorry, review but before I continue, I’m going to give you some back story as to why I was there in the first place!
It was @arinolababy_ birthday and of course we had to celebrate. So I was in attendance with @12.29labels, @arinolababy_ and @the_kudi_effect having a girls night but the devil wasn’t having non of this y’all 😩😩😩. Check out the story here.
Back to the review....
First off, Customer Service for me has to be 💯 - there was a slight hiccup with the reservation (full story over on the blog) but they were really sweet and apologized before @arinolababy_ went bonkers😂
They also came in with a special complementary service for the birthday girl, singing her a birthday song and what not. It was really cute. Loved it!
The ambience
If you know me, you know I have no inbuilt insulation system, I’m gonna be shivering if I stay outdoors for too long so of course we had to stay indoors for our dinner and I loved it. It had a warm and cozy vibe to it. It was relaxing and serene at the same time.
I live for a good lighting system and they delivered. It had warm lights which gave it that really cozy vibe. They didn’t have fairy lights 😩but that wasn’t a deal breaker 😌 I just love fairy lights🥰
The Decor was a fusion of Afro artworks and contemporary designs. It pulled the atmosphere together. The signature pieces complemented each other and were not overbearing. Did I mention there was a bull in the lobby? Check out my story highlights tagged OUTSIDE to see it.
Finally, The Food
Main Course - We ordered a seafood platter for 4 and it came with some fries, shrimp in batter, ketchup, ranch, rice balls, prawns and some vegetables. We ordered extra sides and I went with steamed veggie.
Now, I made this choice because I’ve never had it and I wanted to explore but I believe everyone else enjoyed it except for me. I hated the smell and the texture of the steamed veggies. I tried the prawns and didn’t like the smell so it was not for me either. My favorite was the shrimp in batter, rice balls and fries. I explored this dish and found out it wasn’t for me so this is not to say you wouldn’t like it. You can try it and let me know if you love it or not. Comment down below if you’ve had this dish before.
Drinks - @the_kudi_effect and I ordered a Pina Colada (virgin of course) and @arinolababy_ ordered a Darling Cellar and a Daquiri for @12.29labels. I loved my drink. It reminded me of a tropical adventure and I loved it.
Deserts - We all went for the warm chocolate brownie and boy was it yummy! Just melting on your tongue 😋
Overall experience - 7/10
Everything was great. I just didn’t like the particular food we ordered. I might pop in and try something else next time though.
And there you have it! The Túraká Experience.
